Frequently listed as South Africa’s Next Big Thing, Coda are building a loyal following from Soweto to Sandton with their inspired and unique blend of Afro-classics.
If they are SA’s Next Best Thing they truly are in fine company with FreshlyGround continuing to wow audiences from District Six to Dusseldorf, and Goldfish having a summer residency at Pasha in Ibiza this year.
Formed at the end of 2005, Coda is already in demand to play at birthday parties for the great and the good, the old and the new, from Tutu to FW. A collaboration between vocalist Yolanda Yawa, electric cellist Carol Thorns, saxophonist Judy Brown, electric violinist Cristina Chiselev and House DJ Nick Matthews, the band’s popularity has been cemented since the release of their debut album, Believe.
Expect the buzz to grow louder because, between playing gigs at home and abroad, Coda is busy recording their second album with renowned producer and song-writer, Gabi Le Roux.
